Thanks to Mike for letting me use his photo for this Adobe Photoshop CS3 test. The original image on the left was processed with the new Black & White adjustment layer using Preset Maximum Black at 50% Opacity. I will definately use this filter again! What do you think?

I REALLY like the treatment. Is there anyway to achieve this in CS2?

@Melissa W.: I was able to achieve something similar in CS2 by adding a Channel Mixer layer at 50% opacity. In the Channel Mixer dialog check the Monochrome box then set Red to 60%, Green to 35%, Blue to 15%, and Constant to -40%. It's very close and if you fine tune it for your image you should like the results.
